About Community

Bearskin Lake First Nation is located approximately 400 kilometres northwest of Sioux Lookout, in the heart of Ontario’s north. A remote Oji-Cree community, Bearskin Lake is known for its resilient people, rich cultural traditions, and deep respect for the land. Its isolation has strengthened its self-reliance and sense of unity, qualities that continue to guide its social and economic development. The community is actively exploring opportunities in renewable energy, construction, and land-based tourism, alongside programs that enhance food security and digital access. Leadership places strong emphasis on training and education, ensuring that youth have the skills and confidence to build careers both at home and beyond. Partnerships with government and private industry are being developed to support infrastructure, housing, and long-term sustainability initiatives. Bearskin Lake First Nation continues to demonstrate that determination and vision can overcome distance and challenge, creating a foundation for lasting prosperity. Join today to collaborate with forward-thinking communities advancing Indigenous inclusion and economic opportunity across the country.
