Job Description

Overview of responsibilities :

20 Days On, 10 Days off, Day and Night Shift.
Under the direction of the Foreman, the Heavy Equipment Operator (Production Excavator) is responsible for backfilling, digging, trenching, loading trucks in a safe and effective manner. The Heavy Equipment Operator is also responsible for inspecting, cleaning, and maintaining the equipment and performing repairs as required.

Qualifications :

The following are requirements of this position:
• 5 years’ experience in a mining environment operating production excavators (Cat 390 and Cat 6015)
• Operators must be capable and willing and able to operate various types of Heavy Equipment and be a multifaceted versatile operator.
• Must be well versed in mining site protocols, rules and code of conduct;
• Willingness to work in a team environment;
• Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner;
• Comply with all safety policies and procedures;
• Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers and supervisors to ensure that projects are completed properly;
• Working safely is a condition of employment.

Knowledge requirements :

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
• Backfilling, digging, trenching, and loading trucks;
• Operating heavy equipment to lift and move bulk materials at the worksite.
• Grade various parts of the worksite to the designed elevation in a timely manner;
• Ability to understand rough or fine grade finishing along with plans;
• Ability to set up Excavator and pit for most efficient loading design, in line with supervisor;
• Responsible for understanding issues involving ground disturbance;
• Operating the equipment and attachments in a smooth and safe manner;
• Perform and document daily safety and maintenance checks;
• Repair and maintain vehicle in good condition;
• Advise the Foreman of any requirements for maintenance or repairs;
• Be aware of surroundings at all times;
• Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task;
• Protect and promote the interest of this company in all matters and to take actions as required to satisfy such responsibilities;
• Ensure safety of fellow employees;
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Special skills and abilities :

Applicants must possess a valid traction engine licenses and HEO Certificate.
